Pipe CleaningSouthWest Pipe Services focuses mainly on the removal of coatings from used “take-up” pipe. Our mechanical methods and processes can safely remove coal tar enamel/epoxy coatings at a rate of less than five minutes per 40 foot joint of pipe.
Regulated WasteAs most of us in the pipeline industry know, many years ago asbestos containing material (ACM) was utilized in conjunction with coal tar enamel as a coating to insulate pipe while it sat underground. Later we found that asbestos was linked to Mesothelioma (asbestosis), a cancer in the lungs. In 1989 the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned the use of ACM and issued regulations to phase it out all together.
Buy & SellWhether you are selling pipelines, buying or selling used take-up or new surplus pipe, please add Southwest Pipe Services, Inc. to your bid list.
Pipeline ServicesDue to the size of some pipe removal projects and the cost of transporting pipe, SouthWest Pipe Services has the ability to mobilize our cleaning operation and machinery to your jobsite. This option helps keep transportation cost to a minimum and also prevents having to permit and transport hazardous material cross country. SWP is experienced at working with local, state and federal agencies to obtain the appropriate permits for handling your hazardous materials.
SouthWest Pipe Services, Inc. (SWP)
is primarily an environmental service company specializing in the mechanical removal of pipe coatings. Our services are performed for a wide range of clients in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and energy industries. We can either perform these services at our facilities either in Alvin, TX or Winfield, KS. Southwest Pipe Services can even mobilize to a client’s job site or facility and perform cleaning services on site.
Many of the coatings we remove are classified as regulated waste by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), containing asbestos (ACM) and Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs). SWP handles the removal of these coatings as specified by all local, state and federal regulating agencies.
If you are responsible for handling these types of material, you know how expensive it can be. SWP helps alleviate, and in most cases eliminate, these costs by purchasing your pipe once cleaned or decontaminated. Our processes can net you a check instead of an invoice.
SWP also purchases surplus and used take-up pipe. If purchased pipe is used and has been removed from the ground, it goes through our reclamation processes. Pipe is straightened, dents are repaired, and then it is cleaned. Once cleaned, the ends are beveled and short pieces are welded together.
